Wisdom is more than what we know, read, hear, or even what technology can tell us. True wisdom becomes visible when truth transforms our choices, character, relationships with others, and ultimately the way we live before God.
What Is Wisdom?
Wisdom is not complete until it changes the way we live.
Human beings have pursued wisdom for generations. People of the past sought wisdom through experience, elders, teachers, Scripture, observation, and lessons learned through life.
Today, we live in a different world.
Information is everywhere.
We can search almost anything within seconds. We have books, social media, search engines, and now artificial intelligence capable of helping us gather and understand enormous amounts of information.
But there is an important distinction:
Having access to information does not automatically make us wise.
AI can provide information.
Books can provide knowledge.
People can offer advice.
But wisdom requires something more:
Discernment—knowing what is true, what is appropriate, when it applies, and how we should respond.
Receive Wisdom Carefully
Not every piece of advice belongs in every situation.
What helped one person may not be God's direction for another person's circumstances.
Therefore:
Listen carefully.
Examine carefully.
Pray carefully.
Apply wisely.
Wisdom does not mean accepting everything simply because someone calls it wise.
It requires discernment.
Truth Must Know Its Audience
Even when something is true, how we communicate that truth matters.
You can tell another Christian, “Jesus loves you,” and those words may immediately connect with their understanding of Christ.
But when speaking with someone who does not know Jesus or does not share your faith, the same truth may require patience, compassion, explanation, relationship, and—most importantly—a life that demonstrates what you are saying.
We should never force truth upon people without love.
Instead:
Find the right words.
Speak truth with love.
And let your actions support your words.
Jesus said:
“Ye are the light of the world.”
— Matthew 5:14, KJV
Sometimes the strongest testimony is not what you say about Jesus.
It is how people experience the character of Jesus through the way you live.
Let Your Life Speak
If you speak about love but constantly demonstrate hatred, people will remember your actions.
If you speak about forgiveness but refuse to forgive, your actions will speak louder.
If you speak about humility while constantly seeking superiority, people will notice the contradiction.
Therefore:
Let your life speak the truth.
Your actions can demonstrate wisdom when your life reflects Christ.
Wisdom should influence how you speak, how you treat people, how you respond to correction, how you handle disappointment, and how you make decisions.
Let Wisdom Do Its Work
There comes a point when we must stop collecting wisdom and begin practicing what we have learned.
If you know you should forgive—practice forgiveness.
If you know you should love—show love.
If you know you should pray—pray.
If you know something is wrong—walk away from it.
If God is directing you toward obedience—obey.
Act upon the wisdom you have been given.
Otherwise, wisdom remains information rather than transformation.
Where Wisdom Begins
Scripture repeatedly connects wisdom with the fear of the Lord.
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom…”
— Proverbs 9:10, KJV
The fear of God is not simply being terrified of Him. It involves reverence—recognizing who God is, honouring Him, trusting Him, and submitting ourselves to His authority.
So:
Fear God.
Love God.
Know God.
Trust God.
Submit to God.
Obey God.
And sometimes obedience means remaining faithful even when you do not know the outcome.
That is wisdom expressed through faith.
Wisdom for an Age of AI
Perhaps this question is even more important today:
What does it mean to be wise when information is everywhere?
Technology may become increasingly intelligent, but Christians should never confuse access to information with spiritual wisdom.
We still need discernment.
We still need character.
We still need truth.
We still need prayer.
We still need the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
And we still need the humility to admit:
“I do not know everything.”
A Prayer for Wisdom
Lord, give me wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Give me Your Holy Spirit to guide me throughout my life. Teach me not only to know what is right, but to live rightly. Help me recognize truth, receive correction, speak with love, and obey You faithfully regardless of the outcome. Let my actions reflect Christ, and let the wisdom You give me transform the way I live. Amen.
Remember
Knowledge informs you.
Discernment directs you.
Truth grounds you.
Faith strengthens you.
Obedience moves you.
But wisdom transforms you.
Because ultimately:
Wisdom is not complete until it changes the way we live.
